    I love your blog!! I didn’t know that you were changing your cooking–it’s hard, but will get easier. When I was cooking without wheat, I sometimes used Namaste pizza crust mix, which I bought at the health food store. I often used it more as a cracker mix than a pizza crust, though, as Donnie has always loved crackers. Go figure. Anyway, I would roll it really thin, press sunflower kernels, salt, and sesame seed into it and bake it on a pizza stone, scoring it before baking. We were also rather fond of sunflower seed butter. I, personally, prefer it over almond butter.

    Your pizza looks so yummy that it makes me hungry! Keep up the good work!

    • You are the first one to leave me a comment. Thank you, D’Arla. Yes, we changed our eating/cooking habits as a result of a food sensitivity study for Ethan. He is sensitive to wheat, gluten, cow’s milk, cheese, rye, peanuts, and yogurt. The family theme immediately became, “If Ethan cannot eat it, then we will not eat it.” They really do miss crackers, though, so I will have to try your recipe.

      Thank you for your encouragement. It is a journey, but I am looking forward to the positive health changes that we hope to see.

        Don’t try the “crackers” if you’re expecting them to taste like typical crackers. We liked them, compared to not having crackers, but they were more savory and a different texture to regular crackers. At that time, it was just nice to have a permissible crunchy food. Donnie ate & liked goat’s milk cheese, but I couldn’t manage it—perhaps I got the wrong kind. I did find a rice cheese at Whole Foods, but I don’t remember much about it. It seems like it had a fairly short shelf life.

        Give the kids a hug for me!

    You always were a good cook and up for any culinary challenge. Remember that time we tried to make gumbo from scratch? 🙂 — Keep up the great posts. I predict your blog will be helpful to so many other moms struggling with the food allergy issue. (Did you know Denise Fries opened a gluten free bakery in College Station? – “Taylor Made.”) You come from great family bakers…I still bake your mom’s chocolate pie!
